Klaus M. Schwarzenholz (1943–2023) Born in 1943, Klaus M. Schwarzenholz immigrated to Australia from West Germany in 1972. He earned a degree in Psychology from the University of Tasmania and worked in the field until his retirement in 1998. With a lifelong love of storytelling, Klaus pursued a diploma in professional
writing and editing at the CAE in Melbourne, dedicating his later years to writing.

His passion for historical accuracy led him to travel extensively in Germany and Poland, researching his family’s past. This work became the foundation for his debut novel, And Silently Falls the Snow. Though fast-paced and compelling, the book is deeply rooted in historical events, shedding light on the experiences of displaced Germans during World War II and the devastating firebombing of Dresden on February 13–14, 1945. Few English-language novels, not translated from German, explore these events from a German perspective, making Klaus’s work a rare and valuable contribution to historical fiction.
